Information about this module is generated with the help of AI. The description may be incomplete, inaccurate, or subject to change.
The 42BYGH34-1304B is a compact NEMA 17 hybrid stepper motor for precise control of position, speed and rotation. The motor has two phases, a 1.8 degree step angle and is designed for use with a current regulated stepper motor driver. It is suitable for CNC machines, 3D printers, robotics, automation and various electronics and DIY projects.

The motor is a bipolar stepper motor with four connections and two separate windings. A suitable stepper motor driver reverses the current direction through the windings to create the motor step sequence. With a 1.8 degree step angle, the motor provides 200 full steps per revolution.

The rated current is approximately 1.3 A per phase. The motor has a phase resistance of approximately 2.1 ohms and a phase inductance of approximately 2.5 mH. With a rated current of 1.3 A and a phase resistance of 2.1 ohms, the resistive voltage is approximately 2.7 V. This is the approximate winding voltage of the motor and should not be confused with the supply voltage of the stepper motor driver.

The motor should normally not be connected directly to a 12 V or 24 V power supply. Instead, a current regulated stepper motor driver should be used. The driver can be supplied with a higher voltage while limiting the current through the motor windings. A higher driver supply voltage can provide better performance at higher speeds because the current can build up faster in the motor windings. Always check that the selected driver supports the intended supply voltage and rated current.

With a suitable driver, the motor can also be operated using microstepping. For example, one full step can be divided into 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 steps for smoother operation and higher resolution. Microstepping does not automatically increase the mechanical positioning accuracy by the same amount.
